1990 Rolex Ref. 16570 Explorer II. This “Chicchi di Mais” (corn kernels) dial Explorer II is among one of the best we’ve had the pleasure of reeling in. What is a Chccihi di Mais dial? Glad you asked… these are early 16570 dials where the lume aged to vibrant shades of custard. These are pretty isolated to 1990-1992 and seem to be tied to a specific run of dials. Not all during this period aged this way and the more vibrant, leaning almost tangerine are most sought after. This example is one of the most vibrant I’ve come across and condition of the watch is excellent. Watch comes complete with box, papers and swing tags. Fully linked bracelet with correct date code (P1). Watch originally retailed in Hong Kong in 1991.
