1967 Omega Seamaster 300 Ref. 166.024 owned by Lieutenant Colonel George Aikman Finter (KIA 2/28/1970)Legion of Merit and Bronze Star recipient, LTC Finter served in post-war Germany, as an intelligence officer in Chile and 4 tours in Vietnam; two with Military Assistance Advisory Group (1957-1959) followed by two (1968-1970) with MACV out of Qui Nhon. KIA 2/28/70, while conducting a reconnaissance mission with the 203rd RAC Hawkeyes, LTC Finter left behind a watch that is nothing short of remarkable.Watch is in phenomenal, unpolished condition, as it sat in a briefcase along with his military records for over 40 years. After his last surviving daughter, Michaela Karla Finter passed February 5, 2013 her entire estate was sold at auction. One collector, also a military vet, successfully won multiple lots and was able to keep these remarkable personal effects intact.Included with this watch is a treasure trove of provenance detailing LTC Finters esteemed military career: IDs, passports, licenses, concealed carry permit, photos, report of casualty, Bronze Star Citation, record of personal property, hand-signed letters of condolences from Richard Nixon and General Westmoreland and more.
